Kitchen Equipment Supplies - A Chef's Best Friend

Chefs and great cooks alike do not make delicious and nutritious food magically appear; we only like to think so. It is with great skill, technique, practice and training and high quality kitchen equipment supplies that we are all able to feast on exquisite meals garnished and completed with love.

It all starts in the kitchen. Is your restaurant, business or home kitchen filled with a lot of "toys" for a chef to play with? I hope so, in fact these tools are what great cooks use to make our fine cuisines and without their usage, our food will not taste the same.

When selecting kitchen equipment supplies there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. Your list will vary depending on the type of facility you are trying to accommodate. You want to make sure you have the correct number of supplies but also that you have the space necessary to accommodate them all otherwise it is pointless to waste the money.

Make sure you are bargain shopping. I know that you have already set a budget for your expenses but you can always save more money by looking for deals on your kitchen equipment supplies. Some people even choose to purchase older appliances and supplies that have been previously used or owned and they work just as good. While others may not be as comfortable with this idea, I personally do not find anything wrong with this.

With a good cleaning and an inspection (for larger appliances), you can virtually turn any old appliance or kitchen supply into a like-new condition. Of course you can always shop online for a bargain or look in your local department stores for great deals and bargain buys.

Kitchen equipment supplies are definitely a chef's best friend. They cannot cook or prepare their meals without them and their food just would not taste the same.

Chef's Design 16-1/2-Inch Roaster Rack Basket Overview

Wire Roaster Rack Basket

Chef's Design 16-1/2-Inch Roaster Rack Basket Specifications

This basket-style rack fits perfectly within Chef's Design's 16-1/2-inch oval covered roaster but is also compatible with other roasters of a similar shape and size. Measuring 16-1/2 inches long and 11-1/4 inches wide, the roaster can support an average-sized turkey or roast beef. High 3-1/4-inch sides keep roasts fully contained for moist-heat cooking methods, such as braising or poaching. Made of sturdy steel wire, the rack won't bend under the weight of a heavy roast and raised handles make it simple to remove from a pan. Additionally, the rack's frame is coated with a nonstick surface for easier cleanup of meat fats and grease. This roaster basket is oven-safe to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. --Cristina Vaamonde

Check Out Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker for $96.44

Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker Review

This is my 2nd Chef's Design pressure cooker. With my first one, I left it on the heat too long (empty) and the bottom seperated. This is a very safe cooker. I do not think it could ever explode. Be careful with tomatoes/sauces as they can stick if not well mixed with other ingredients. I use it a lot for cookng brown rice: 20 min to cook, 5 min to cool. Saves ALL the vitamins and is very moist!

Chef's Design 6.4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker Feature

  • Tempered Glass Cover
  • 6.0 liter/6.4 quart capacity
  • Steamer Basket
  • Trivet/Stand
  • English/Spanish Instruction Recipe Manual Included

Great product - TERRIBLE CUSTOM SERVICE - James W. Kerr -
This is a very well built pressure cooker, solid and easy to use. However, the first Chef's Design P.C. I purchased via Amazon broke within weeks. The heavy gauge plastic pressure release valve broke and stays locked in "release" position. The price was better than any other, so I simply bought another. The new one is terrific and we use it regularly without any issues.
The cooker gets 5 stars, but Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Co. gets no stars for their rude phone reps and evasive warranty policies.
Their warranty clearly states, " if the product becomes defective within the warranty period, Wisconsin Aluminum will replace or repair it at our discretion." It also states that they will not cover damage to the product resulting from misuse, overheating, accidents or alteration to the product. NO WHERE DOES IT STATE THAT W.A. ONLY COVERS THE ACTUAL STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINER - NOT THE PLASTIC RELEASE HANDLE, which was the first thing out of their customer services mouth!
When I called them to let W.A. know I was about to send the lid back, the rep promptly told me that the pot I purchased in late 2004 was in fact 14 years old and they didn't make it anymore and wouldn't fix it. I explained that I recently bought the same item for a second time on Amazon a few months go and assured her that they DO still make it. She than told me that I shouldn't have waited to send it back and than I wouldn't have and to purchase a new one. That may be true, but it was still defective and should be covered by the warranty of 10 years!
I should be considered a GOOD CUSTOMER since I returned to buy another from them, but instead I was treated like a kid that got caught chewing gum in school.
FINALLY after objections, explanations and not letting the Rep push me around, she opted to just send me the 2 plastic parts that were dysfunctional, to be fixed by myself...
WISCONSIN ALUMINUM Co. , if you don't want to honor your 10 year warranty...you must be sure to state that your crummy warranty only covers the stainless steel part of the item and NOT the plastic release handles. And teach your customer service folks to be polite. We shouldn't be made to feel like we're being put on trail with Judge Judy just to get one of your items repaired that was faulty in the first place!
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Problem with pressure safety valve - D. Hacker -
Nice heavy stainless cooker. However, a small metal cylinder fell out of the safety valve in the upper side handle of the lid. It appears something has gone missing e.g. a spring or fastener, but the troubleshooting section of the users' manual makes no mention of the safety valve and I cannot find a local distributer to repair it. Now the pot is useless as a pressure cooker because the open hole makes it impossible to build pressure.

Chef's Design Pressure Cooker - Too Tall Joan - Eugene, OR USA
I returned this product the day after I received it because, when I ordered it I thought it was a metal-on-metal pressure cooker, but it WAS NOT.

Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill Review

Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill Feature

  • Excalibur Non-Stick Coating.
  • Grease wells channel fat & oil away from food
  • Suitable for Glass/Flat top ranges
  • Quickly thaws frozen foods.
  • Made in the USA.

Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill Overview

Ribbed Double Burner Grill

Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill Specifications

This 10-3/8-by-18-7/8-inch heavy cast-aluminum griddle fits over two gas or electric rangetop burners, including flat surface rangetops, making it easy to cook for a large group. The ribbed surface lets you grill steaks and seafood, just like on your outdoor grill. The ribs hold food above the griddle so fats drain into the recessed channel, while the juices cook in the wells, "smoking" the food for that outdoor flavor. The nonstick surface is reinforced with stainless steel, which forms a permanent base for the nonstick coating. That means it will last up to 100 times longer than other nonsticks. The commercial-grade cast aluminum conducts heat more evenly than other surfaces, and at lower temperatures--in fact, you should use only low-to-medium heat with this griddle. As an added feature, the superconductive aluminum also works well to thaw frozen foods without the use of heat (steaks in 30-45 minutes, chicken in 20-30). Use only wooden, nylon, or nonmetallic utensils. Hand wash without abrasives. --Doree Armstrong

Poor Quality Double-sided griddle - Dan Darrel - Salinas, CA USA
We bought this double-sided griddle and followed the directions for its care. Unfortunately, the so-called non-stick surface areas wore out, especially in the areas under the gas burners. The ribbed sections have exposed the aluminum metal which has turned whitish and speckled. Thus, its ability to cook with has been compromised. We no longer use it. This was made by the Wisconsin Alum Fndry.

Despite the above, we did find a better quality one-sided flat grill made by the same company. The surface coating is of much higher quality than the ribbed griddle. It's about the same size as the ribbed griddle, but it's much heavier. We've used it on our gas stove without any problems, and so far, the non-stick surface coatings have withstood numerous uses. Of course, we did pay more for it than the ribbed griddle.

We don't understand why the Wisconsin Alum Fndry would market the double-sided ribbed griddle because we've read a number of complaints about its quality. The non-stick surface coatings just did not hold up. They should take them off the market.

Rangtop griddle - Gary L. Du Priest -
We found this griddle to be extremely hard to clean.....almost impossible, in fact. I'm not happy with it at all.

Chef's Design Nonstick griddle CAN'T be cleaned. IT'S A LIE! - NYC Consumer - New York, NY
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I can't tell you how angry I am that my wife bought this piece of junk cookware. We cooked some chicken on it, a few burned and left some charcoal-like chunks and residue stuck to the ribs of the griddle. Fine. It should wash off easily right because it has a NONSTICK coating. IT'S A LIE!! It's nonstick in NAME ONLY. So what do you do? You have to scrub it off with a wire brush. And all those bits of so-called nonstick coating peel away and later flake away INTO your food the next time you cook with it! How dangerous is that? Ridiculous product with a ridiculous claim. This Wisconsin company should be SUED! I have sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau of that state.

Poor design, mediocre quality - -
I received this as a gift, and was looking forward to cooking up lots of pancakes or french toast at once. However, because of the design of the grease/juice wells on two corners, the griddle will not sit evenly on my gas range. I tried various positions, but gave up. If your range has square racks, avoid this.

One more thing - after relatively few uses, and only using wooden spatulas, the "nonstick" surface began to wear and foods started sticking badly.
