How to Lower Your Tolerance Level to Stress

Everyday I see another backward issue in our daily life. We tend to look up to, use as role models or success icons, those people who are under a great deal of stress, those who seem to handle loads of stress and those who like to be under pressure.

Just think of those people running for public offices. Our election process is one big People Pressure Cooker!!

When someone tells you "I've been working really hard on this project or case" and I'm really stressed really stressed out, but I like what I do", we admire, even want to be like them and take their behavior as our own.

I've heard nurses and care givers say proudly" I have an extremely high stress tolerance". On a scale of one to ten, they are always at a nine or ten, this is on almost an every day basis.

It is no surprise to me when they come to see me to talk or hire me as their consultant, that they are hoping for strategies to increase their tolerance or ability to handle stress, even higher, they want to have even MORE!!

We all have heard about the Law Of Attraction by now, which I believe in, simply put the more of what you have or want you will attract or get.

Now it usually takes a major meltdown or a crisis of some kind to wake up a stressed-out person to their own 'insanity'. I define insanity as 'doing the same things over and over and over and over expecting different results!

So if a spouse leaves, an illness surfaces, or a major addiction takes control of their life, this happening jolts them into a search for a new kind of solution or strategy.
What you must start doing is notice your stress early on, before it gets out of control. For instance, when you feel your thoughts moving too quickly, your having 'senior moments' and you are not a senior, back off and regain your bearings and your thoughts refocused.

When your schedule is getting uncontrollable, again a signal that its about time to put on the brakes and reevaluate your to do's instead of crashing through them.

The best strategy I can offer right now is to relax, take some really deep breaths, and go for a short walk. Yes you can leave what you are doing to clear your mind and collect your emotions. You will be pleasantly surprised how well an issue or project can be handled or resolved after doing this.

Your learning to lower your level for stress and raising your levels of calm.
