Check Out Mirro 12-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner for $59.19

Mirro 12-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner Review

I have used this pressure canner for 10 years and love it. I have been able to get 7 wide-mouth quarts into the canner but it does require some effort. Try turning the raised "writing" on the jars to the inside. These days, it's just my husband and myself, so I converted to pints a long time ago. Here, I can only do 8 pints at a time (used to fit 9 regular mouth in but couldn't do it this fall - different jars?), but since my spaghetti sauce recipe makes 8 quarts, that's 16 pints, exactly two batches in the canner. It says "not recommended for smooth-top ranges" on the box, but my husband and I moved into a new home last fall that had a smooth-top range. I crossed my fingers - and proceeded to process 72 pints of sauce this fall, or 9 batches, without any trouble at all. The canning instructions are clear and easy to use, although it took a while to figure out what temperature was best for the new stove to keep the pressure rocker at the right level. (My old stove was gas; how I miss it!) I do mostly spaghetti sauce these days, but used to can peaches and pears, too. No trouble there.

I'm on the Amazon site right now because my oldest daughter has requested one for Christmas and this is the one I'm buying. That speaks for itself.

Christmas present for my daughter - epease3088 - Michigan
I bought this item on Amazon.com for a Christmas present so my daughter won't have to borrow my 30 yr old Mirro Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner during the canning season in 2010. Mine is still going...Hope this one is the same quality. It was cheaper than the local store one-same exact model. Shipping time was fast. So far, so good.

Mirro 12 quart pressure canner - Craig Loring - Mass, USA
I searched all over for a reasonably priced canner and found it on Amazon. This canner is easy to use and cleans up quickly. This is a good product.

smaller than it says - grandma ya-ya - washington state
Instruction pamphlet is wrong: the 12 qt holds 10 half pints, not 13; 8 pints, not 10; 7 wide-mouth pints, not 8 (also fits 6 wide + 2 narrow) .
Now I want to do quarts, but don't think I really may. It says it holds 7 quarts. Five fit, in terms of side-by-side space, but both quarts and pint-and-a-half jars come so close to the top that I'm afraid to try it and maybe lose my stuff. This seems like false advertising.
I have however successfully done pints and half pints. I wouldn't buy it if you want to can anything over pints.
