The sealing ring fits around the inside rim of the cover and forms a pressure-tight seal between the cover and the body of the pressure cooker during cooking. When installing a sealing ring, work it into the cover in four small sections, for example, top, bottom , left and right. Work it into the groove a small section at a time until it is fully in place. Place the cover on the cooker body. Put one hand on the top center of the cover and push down firmly. Open and close the cover several times. So instead of suppressing your symptoms, learn to understand them. Perhaps now you can see where I am coming from. It is quite useful as you can use the beaker for measuring anything.
I haven't tried the recipies yet, but the book is easy to understand.
The timer is loud- my only issue is the clip with the magnet fell off after 3 months and I had to re-glue back into place.

We have troubles with the internal rubber gasket (38-667-00-201) of our pressure cookers.
Each 5 months we have to change it.
We never had to replace it in so few months with others pressure cookers.
The black pot handle complete is cracket after a year (21-641-01-270).

May be the problem is at the top; it could be deformed.

Beginner Cooks Starting in the Summer

So it's the summer and you have a million parties to go to and nothing to bring for food? Maybe you aren't really that into cooking, or maybe you just haven't ever done it before and you are afraid to try. If your case is the second case, then have no fear. Cooking doesn't have to be a scary and looming thing that you dream because you are embarrassed. A lot of people start out as terrible cooks and end up being really great in the end. Here are a few of the keys to cooking.

First of all, you can't be afraid of cooking. Yes, there are meals that are going to take you a lot longer than others, but really, you can cook just about anything. The key is to start with simple things first, and then build from there. If you need something that looks really nice for a meal you are going to, you can make really simple things looks really extra nice. All you need to do is be a little creative and just make the food look fancy. The fact is that it doesn't actually have to be fancy.

Second, there are some meals that you can't do because you just don't have the right tools. It's not that you can't actually make the right food, it's just that you don't have the right pans or knives or whatnot. If you want to get serious into cooking, then you need to go out and buy some of the basics of cooking. Don't be afraid to spend a little money to get nice stuff.

What Can You Add To A Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe?

Remember when you were a kid, and every chocolate chip cookie recipe turned out pretty much the same cookie? Sure, some were crunchy and some were chewy, but they all basically consisted of a sweet dough encasing half-melted chocolate chips.

Thanks to the foodie revolution, those days are fast disappearing. Walk down your grocery store's bakery aisle now, and you'll find not just your old-fashioned semi-sweet chips, but a dizzying array of other flavors in chip form. There are peanut butter chips, which taste great right out of the bag, white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, toffee chips, chips based on candy bars like Butterfinger and many, many more. Even the traditional chips come in sizes ranging from tiny ones that look like periods up to thumbnail-sized monsters.

If you choose to try one of the "alternate" chips, the big decision to make is whether you're going to go with them totally or mix them in with your chocolate chips. Your recipe won't help you here, most likely, especially if it's an older one. A good rule of thumb is, at least the first time, to swap out no more than half the chocolate chips for an alternative. Make a half-batch, if you'd like, or make a full batch and split it if you'd like to try a couple of different add-ins.

Beyond the new chips lies the territory of your imagination, and that can be a truly fertile ground. Nuts, of course, are classic additions to chocolate chip cookie recipes, with many even including them as mandatory. Walnuts and pecans are the traditional nuts, but almost any nut will do. Whichever one you choose, make sure to avoid flavored or overly salted ones, such as "smoked" almonds or honey-roasted peanuts.

Finally, here's a neat idea to try for the holidays: Take candied fruit and chop it very small, about half the size of your chocolate chips. Mix a few handfuls into your cookie batter, but don't decrease the amount of the chips. Your "new" chocolate chip cookie recipe will produce colorful cookies that will be the hit of any holiday basket or cookie swap!

T Bone Steak Recipes - Picking the Best Cut of Meat

It's summer, it's warm and it's time to get the grill going. Time to invite the friends over, ice up a cooler of beer and cook some steaks. Nothing to it right? Do you have one of the great T Bone steak recipes? Do you need one? If you've been cooking steaks on the grill, you might know the answer, but for sure there are a few tips you need to follow, even for the most seasoned backyard BBQ king.

Picking the right steak is very important. The T-Bone steak is one of the cornerstones of beef so it's a good choice. Tenderloin, strip and porterhouse steaks are more tender, T-bone falls in the middle, but don't worry, it's good.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture or the USDA grades beef and the highest quality if prime, that's what you want to go for. Choice is the next best and what is found usually in grocery stores. You might have to call around to find prime, but some good butcher shops and Whole Foods carries that quality of steak.

To get the tastiest cut of meat look for good marbling, which is tight, evenly spaced, flecks of fat in the meat. Remember, marbling in meat is like the flavor crystals.

When it comes to the actual cooking, I like to keep things simple: salt, pepper and a little olive oil spread on each side of the steak. I think the pure flavor of steak and charcoal is the best, especially if you've got yourself a great T-bone steak.

Just cook it on each side for a few minutes depending on how you want it cooked.

First Date Question For the Guys

Apparently women make a decision whether or not they want to go out on a date with a man within 30 seconds of meeting him.

Pressure cooker time huh?

Well, let's break this down and see if we can make it easier to understand. The very first question a man SHOULD ask a woman is called an "open" question. These are questions that can't be answered by a simple "yes" or "no." It usually requires a well thought out answer that will continue a dialog.

You see, you don't want to be asking a "closed" question because it makes a conversation harder to keep going.

Great questions have certain characteristics in common such as being funny, provocative or positive.

And for Pete's sake... don't make the questions seem like a JOB INTERVIEW! It's boring!

Great questions to ask on a first date are the ones that bring out an interesting dialogue, which will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about her. The most critical part will be your listening skills. Listen carefully so that you can ask those intelligent follow-up questions because:

* It shows you are listening to her
* It makes her feel that you are interested in her
* It will impress her

We can't ignore your body language WHILE you are asking those great open questions... Right? Absolutely NOT! Remember to smile, uncross those arms and legs, and maintain eye contact.

Because, after all a large part of communication is body language. So you want to present a relaxed demeanor that shows her that you can enjoy yourself in any social setting.

I promise you, you will be her knight in shining armor if she feels the guy across the table really is interested in her.

Another tip, make a compliment and follow up with an easy to answer question. The reason being is usually the woman's radar is up at the beginning of the date. Complimenting a woman can mean so many things at different levels and she isn't sure about you yet. If you just compliment her, you run into the risk that she will reject the compliment. And by extension, she is rejecting you. So the way around this is to quickly ask a question without waiting for her response to your compliment.

Let's make up an example: "I really like the blouse you are wearing tonight, what do you like to do on your days off?

And she will tell you her hobbies while accepting your compliment. Think about it this way, if some attractive woman complimented you on your choice of clothes, wouldn't that make you feel good about yourself?

And guess what? Your first date may soon be on a rip roaring success. And to think you were agonizing about your first date question prior to your date.

Which is grundging around trying to get oily, sugary lava flows off the bottom of the oven so they will not turn to smoke and ruin the next things cooked. Cleans up easily in the sink. Can't say anything about it's longevity at this point.



Oven liner melted to oven bottom. (Also smelled.) - J. Messerschmidt - USA
After less than two months worth of VERY light duty, this oven liner is already in the trash.

History:
We have only used the liner from mid-January until mid-March.
We have a gas oven, and only use it once a week or so, for a frozen pizza. (No higher than 425 degrees.)

Odor:
The oven liner produced a nasty odor when it was on--smelled like burning plastic.
It wasn't so bad that it stunk up the house, but if you got too close to the vent on the oven, it would make you cough.

Product failure:
In the time we've had it in the oven, it seemed to be performing it's duty-catching dripping cheese, etc. and keeping it off the oven bottom.
However, as we went to preheat the oven last night, the oven started smoking.
We thought it was just because we needed to clean the food off the mat, but when we tried to pull the mat out for cleaning, we discovered it had melted to the bottom of the oven.
By slowly peeling it out, we were able to get most of it out of the oven, but I will probably have to do some scraping to get the last bit out.

I would not recommend this product.

How to Make Dark Colored Icing - Making Red, Black, and Dark Blue

Making dark colored icing can be a little tricky. If you've tried, you've probably ran into the same problems most do.

The most common problem is that the color is simply not dark enough. Have you ever tried to make red, but it only looks pink? Then, to try to make it darker you add more and more food color. Makes sense right? Next thing you know the consistency of your icing has changed. So you give it a little taste and yuck! It now tastes bitter and disgusting. Does this sound familiar?

Are you frustrated yet? I am worn out just talking about it. Well, there is an easier way to make dark colored icing!

Let's start with making red.

How to make Red

What you will need:

-red paste or gel concentrated food color
-red powder food color
-toothpick

The first thing we want to do is make our frosting a nice pink color. To do this use the red paste or gel coloring. Dip a clean toothpick into the color, or just squeeze a small amount if using gel in a tube or bottle. Now, mix in the color.

The goal is to get a nice medium (not too light, not too dark) shade of pink. Just add the color a little at a time and mix until you reach a nice medium shade of pink.

Next, we are going to use the red powder color. Sprinkle the red powder into your frosting a little at a time and mix it in. You will notice it getting darker. Add the powder color until the icing starts to look red. Set it on the counter and walk away for about 10 minutes. When you come back, it will have darkened to a nice shade of red.

How to make Black

What you will need:

-black paste or gel concentrated food coloring
-black powder color
-toothpick

There are two easy ways to make black.

The first is using chocolate frosting. Simply add your black paste or gel food coloring to the chocolate. Since it is already dark, it will not take much color to make it black.

Not everyone likes or wants to use chocolate though. The second method uses white or buttercream frosting to make black. It is exactly the same as making the red.

You want to first make your icing a nice shade of gray. Using the black paste or gel food coloring, mix in small amounts of color until you reach a medium shade of gray. Dip a clean toothpick into the color, or squeeze out a small amount if using gel in a tube or bottle.

Next, add the black powder color a few sprinkles at a time and mix it in until it starts to look black. Walk away for about 10 minutes and it will be dark black when you return.

How to make Dark Blue

What you will need:

-royal blue paste or gel concentrated food coloring
-blue powder color
-toothpick

When making dark blue it is best to start with royal blue paste or gel as your base. There are several shades of blue available, but royal blue produces the best results.

Dip your toothpick in the food color, or squeeze a small amount from the tube or bottle if using gel. Mix it in. Add color until you reach a nice "true" blue color. True blue to me is like the blue on the American flag, a nice medium shade of blue.

Now, sprinkle the powder color in a little at a time and mix it in until the icing starts getting darker. Set it to the side and come back in ten minutes. It will darken as it sits.

If you are trying to make navy blue, add a very small touch of black paste or gel color. When I say very small I mean literally just a touch of it. This will deepen it enough to make it a dark navy blue.

Use the paste/gel food color and powder food color combination to make all of your dark colored icing. It will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I have done extensive research on thermal cookers and purchased the 8.0 liter model. The cooker is well-designed because the handle design of the inner-pot makes it easy and safe to lift the boiling pot from the stove into the true vacuum flask. The inner-pot is of sturdy stainless steel construction and the bottom is reinforced to avoid burning food on the stove during initial preparation. Both the inner-pot and the vacuum flask are very easy to clean. The inside of the vacuum flask is smooth stainless steel with no crevices for food to get stuck so that you can literally wipe it clean should you spill anything into the vacuum flask.

The lid of the inner-pot allows you to conveniently see the inside of the pot during the initial cooking. The knob on the lid of the inner-pot fits within a matching indentation under the lid of the vacuum flask so that the lid does not slide around while the outer-lid of the vacuum flask is fastened. Both the 6.0 liter and 8.0 liter models have locks to secure the insulated outer-lid of the vacuum flast in place while the food is cooking for further security.

The brushed stainless steel exterior is handsome and easy to wipe clean.

Unlike electrical slow cookers (although I still find them very useful in many contexts), the heat surrounds the inner pot during cooking rather than just from the bottom of the electrical slow cooker pot. That makes cooking legumes and starchy ingredients easier because they do not stick to the bottom of the pot. Also, you can brown your meats in the inner-pot of the thermal cooker and then add your additional ingredients to the same pot unlike most electrical slow cookers's inner-pots.

So this product comes with my high recommendations. While this thermal cooker does retain high temperatures for longer than 12 hours, make sure that after your food has finished cooking that the food is not held at an unsafe temperature. Thermal cookers operate the best when the inner-pot is filled to 80% capacity.

We bought this after the recommendations from my sister, mom and aunt. Apparently, this gadget is very popular in Hong Kong. It is so easy to cook Chinese soup now. We bring the ingredients in the inner pot to boiling for 20-30min the night before, then let it simmer inside the thermo cooker. Next AM, take the inner pot out and bring it to a boil (takes 8-10min) and put it back inside the thermo cooker. By the afternoon after work, nice delicious soup awaits when we come home. This is a well made Japanese product and make cooking soup a breeze. Highly recommended.

Freiling Pressure Cooker Speedo Review



This product is a great buy. It is the 6.5 qt. model, or at least that is what I received (when I bought it there were no size specs on the site). It is heavy duty, from Sitram. Like the Sitram Profiserie, it has the induction ready magnetic stainless cladded, aluminum disk base with a 18-10 Stainless interior. The website is in French, so someday it may be a pain-in-the to get the seal replaced, and the manual has some pretty strange recipes in it, but for now I am very happy, especially because it makes the other option in my budget range, the Fagor, look pretty chinsy!
