Pressure Cooker - S. White - Tennessee mountains
I was a bit disappointed when I received this pressure cooker and learned that it pressurized to just 11.6 pounds pressure, when the book I got to go with it Miss Vickie's Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipesrecommends and writes instructions for cookers that pressurize at 15 pounds pressure. It makes it more difficult to use, since instead of being able to use the instructions from other sources as written, I have to try to decide just how much longer I need to leave a product under pressure--I'll just have to do trial and error, then make notes on how long I left it and how it turned out.

Fortunately, the pressure cooker was on sale when I bought it, and for the money I spent I decided to keep it; if I had paid the full price, I probably would have sent it back.






Sunbeam Pressure Cooker - Elizbabeth Battle Martin -
This product had to be returned - the advertisement says it is stainless steel, but it was actually aluminum. I was grievously disappointed at having to relinquish the pressure cooker, especially given the excellent price; but I do not want to use an aluminum cooker. I am also disappointed to see that it is still advertised as stainless steel. This needs to be corrected immediately before any other customers get duped.

Too bad there is not a way to rate a product with zero stars.

I love my pressure cooker. Things cook fast and they taste great. The meats come out so tender, like you've been cooking for hours. Never had a pressure cooker before but when I read an article about them in the newspaper I decided to try one and I'm so glad I did. Stainless steel better than aluminum. They will last longer. In case you've haven't used one before like me be sure to turn the heat down when the top starts jiggling. It doesn't have to jiggle to cook. Also the cook book I have say to cook the meat ahead of time, to brown, in the pressure cooker. I use a fry pan for that. The food will stick and it's hard to clean and watch for the over pressure plug so it doesn't get caught when you're washing the lid. If it gets caught the pressure is realeased as you're cooking and you can't build up the pressure.

Pressure Cookers - Why?

In the mid 1900s, PRESSURE COOKERS were a very popular cooking vessels for preparing the family meals. Back in those days, they had to be watched closely as the valve was not as safe as one would have liked it to be. Today they are much safer than they were in the old days. As with all appliances and cooking vessels, the manufacturer provides instructions and care information for their products and must be strictly adhered to, especially for safety.

Cooking, of course, is a major necessity for most families. For many homemakers this can become quite a chore at times. In most families, both the husband and wife work outside the home, and are busy with activities involving their children. Preparing meals quickly can be quite a problem when there is a lack of time. This great cooking tool is here to save the day.

The PRESSURE COOKER, is just one of the many cooking tools, saving you time in the kitchen. There are
many advantages to using a Pressure Cooker that will change the way you look at this old kitchen tool. It has been revived and is extremely popular again.

Baseball Drills - Offensive Pressure Creates Opportunities

One of the best ways to force long innings (when you are on offense of course) and to win more games is to put added pressure on the defense. There are multiple ways of doing this, a couple of which are outlined here. Understanding the concerns of a defense and exploiting those concerns are valuable techniques any good coach will insert into his baseball drills.

Pressure Cooker #1 - Run Like the Wind:

Don't skip this part because you, your son, or the team you coach has little speed. You don't need any to understand this concept. The more offensive movement is created on the base paths, the more potential there is for defensive mistakes. Create movement the following ways:

A. Bigger lead offs. Most youth baseball players don't get a proper lead off at any base. Because of this, the defense doesn't feel the perceived threat of the runner. How long is a good lead? A runner should be able to rotate and dive (body fully extended) back to the bag in time if he is watching the right movements from the pitcher. Getting aggressive leads will do two things. First, it will force the pitcher to split concentration between the runner and the hitter. This will help out the hitter as pitch location may improve with the lack of focus from the pitcher. Secondly, the more throws drawn by the runner at first base (primarily) can results in potential overthrows as well as an increased opportunity to utilize a stolen base or a hit and run play.

B. Take aggressive turns on the bases. I frequently see many younger players after hitting a baseball, jog down to first base and take a small turn around first. This puts zero pressure on the defense. The first goal on any hit to the outfield is to reach second base. The mentality that every hit is a double will help runners become more aggressive. Obviously I'm not advocating running bases wildly, I'm simply promoting adding some extra heat on the defense to provoke some mistakes.

Pressure Cooker #2 - Have a Pitch Plan

It's quite common to watch hitters all the way through high school swing at pitches quite out of the zone. Most of the time this is caused from a lack of a game plan, or improper teaching during baseball drills. Each hitter should have a specific pitch plan based upon his hitting strengths. Every hitter has a special pitch, or one that is more favorable to hit than others. This needs to be the focus early in the count. No other pitches should be offered at early in the count other than the favorite pitch. The only thing that would change this scenario would be if a coach called some sort of offensive play.

A more selective approach to hitting will put pressure on defensive two different ways:

A. More pitches will be thrown by pitchers which will (hopefully) force a pitching change earlier in the game. Since more relievers in youth baseball are not as good as starters, this is a plus for the offense.

B. Getting better pitches to hit will create more baseballs in play. The more balls hit hard there are, the greater chance there is for a mistake by the defense.

Finally, there is no secret that perceived pressure causes more mistakes. If an offense can manufacture pressure and remain confident in doing so, they will enjoy watching an error filled defense play more timid and give games away.

I must admit I was apprehensive about buying an electric pressure cooker. We have all heard the horror stories about the stove top cookers blowing up, but curiosity got thee best of me. When my Oneida pressure cooker arrived I eyed it with caution. Then I cooked up some rice. How hard could that be? I plugged it in, set the cook time, and ran out of the kitchen. I stood near the doorway and listened---SILENCE. I walked up to the cooker, placed my ear next to it---SILENCE. Then the beep went off signalling the 6 minute cooking time was completed. After a cool down, I opened the lid to perfectly done rice. BEAUTIFUL!

I now realize the value of pressure cooking. Less time in the kitchen. A whole lot less power used in cooking i;e Spaghetti Sauce (20 minutes versus 3-4 hours simmering on the stove top), Soup in 15 minutes versus 1-2 hourrs on the stove top, Chili in 6 minutes. How could I NOT have had this wonderful cooker when I had 4 energy filled boys to feed at home? They are all grown now, but I still treasure my
time and labor saved. The older you get the less patience you have with cooking.

Wait till I tell my sister she can make her stuffed cabbbage in 20 minutes versus 3-4 hours on the stove top/oven! She will flip!

Controlling Anger - Master Rage And Fury With These Ten Tips And Ways To Spot Your Hidden Anger

'I'm so full of anger,' Serena told me. 'I really feel I need to let it out.'

But letting rip, studies find, makes you more angry and aggressive, not less. It becomes a habit, making it more likely you'll give way to anger next time. From small explosions about big things, people who never control or calm their anger tend to progress to big explosions about little things.

However, the good news is that there isn't a pressure cooker full of anger in your brain, needing to be let out. Things don't work like that. Instead, there are tendencies, stresses, habits and triggers ... and you can succeed in changing these with practice and perseverance. First, however, if anger is a problem for you, you need to realise this. It's not always obvious ...

Exploding with fury can be scary and dangerous. So many people express their anger in hidden roundabout ways, living in a state of masked annoyance and hostility. If this is you, you may well feel YOU never let anger rule you ... yet those around you will see things differently. And they'll be right! Classic hidden anger signs include:

o Destructive criticism, faultfinding and nitpicking. You can tell yourself this is justified: 'It's for your own good,' 'Someone needs to see that things are done right,' 'Someone has to tell you ...' 'You need to know where you're going wrong.' But you can be sure others sense your underlying hostility!

o Sarcasm and hostile wit is a classic bully tactic. Sinking your verbal teeth into someone has the advantage of letting you say, innocently, 'Oh, can't you take a joke?' 'You always take things the wrong way,' or, 'You're far too sensitive,' if someone objects to your backbiting or tries to draw attention to the hidden anger which fuels it.

o Being a victim. Victims are just waiting to be treated badly and taken advantage of. They feel helpless so don't take responsibility for what happens to them. Their anger at life is expressed in making others feel useless and guilty, as they resist everyone's attempts to help them or cheer them up --'Yes, but ...' Some sulk, gloomily enjoying the power and attention as people run around trying to soothe them.

o Passive-aggression. You smile sweetly, while inwardly resentful. You don't want to cooperate, but you don't dare say so. So you're 'tired'. You 'can't understand.' You forget, you're late, you're clumsy, you make mistakes. Procrastination is a great way of expressing passive-aggression ... you don't refuse to do something, you just never get round to it.

Controlling anger

These ways of being angry DON'T GET THINGS DONE. They don't effectively change or accomplish things. They just muddy the waters and damage your health and your relationships. Yet anger can be a powerful motivator, a positive force for good -- IF you learn to make it your servant, not your master. Here are 10 tried-and-tested tips:

o Ask yourself: 'What do I want to achieve?' when you feel that clutch of rage at your chest.

o Avoid. Can maddening situations be avoided? Is there a way round the traffic jam, do you HAVE to look at your teenager's dreadful bedroom, could someone else deal with that infuriating colleague?

o Recognise past triggers. One minute you're coping. The next, 'out of the blue', you've lost it. Later, you'll say, 'I don't know what came over me,' 'I wasn't myself.' And in a sense you weren't ... because something has hit a nerve and the fight part -- anger -- of the fight-or-flight survival response has been triggered.

Just as reminders of past trauma can set off panics and fears, so a reminder of experiences like unfairness, injustice, being bullied or assaulted can spark disproportionate anger. Human Givens therapy can remove the original trauma so you stay calm in these trigger situations. If that isn't available to you, try EMDR, NLP or EFT.

o Spot the danger times. Keeping a diary can show up trends and danger points. Consider building time-out moments into your day. Perhaps a quiet period when you get home from work is crucial to a calm evening, for instance. Look out for low blood sugar -- it can make people very snappy.

Ian came for therapy for anger. Each evening after work, he regularly lost his temper with his partner as he tried to speed her cooking up. It turned out that he was one of those thin, driven, fast metabolism types ... and he'd had nothing to eat since a snatched sandwich, six hours earlier. He was starving for the food she was so slow preparing. Attention to his diet solved the problem.

o Fix daily hassles. Those little things may seem trivial, but take them seriously. They can ratchet up your stress level till you're an explosion waiting to happen.

o Cool down. Let out a long sigh of relief (a great way of gaining some instant relaxation!). And INSTANTLY start counting backwards from 100. After about 15 seconds of that, anger will have weakened.

Solar Cookers - The Pros and Cons of the Different Types

One of the primary things to consider when buying or making a solar oven is; "what kind of foods are you planning to cook."

This may seem obvious but it will have an effect on the ease of use, effectiveness and cooking results of different foods while using a solar cooker.

You can, of course cover all bases by building or purchasing one of each style of solar cooker,( as many people do) which would greatly increase you cooking capacity and reduce the length of cook time.

You might ask yourself; am I mostly interested in baked goods such as breads, cakes, cookies etc., or do I want to do more of the high moisture content dishes such as soups, stews, chilies and meats that are ideal for slow, low temperature cooking?

Most all of the solar cookers available in the three main classes can cook a large range of foods whether dry or moist, but some are more suited to specific kinds of foods than are others.

A good sized box cooker is capable of baking foods on a tray/baking sheet and at the same time can cook together a pot of fresh vegetables or a soup with the same satisfactory results.

Generally a box cooker, with the aid of panel reflectors, can reach very hot temperatures which are ideal for most general baking needs, but will do great for moist foods as well.

* Note: Most traditional method cookbooks will state specific temperatures for baking cakes, pies or cookies.
But you will soon find out that you can cook just fine; pretty much any kind of pastry, in a solar oven.
The most notable difference will be the lengths of time due to a lower cooking temperature...remember it just takes longer using a solar cooker.

...it is not always possible, nor is it necessary to maintain a cooking temperature of 300° F or higher in order to cook baked goods.

Higher temperatures indicated in traditional cook books are designed more for convenience, (time) and for browning, crisping, or setting of cakes and pastries. *

Solar Box cookers will usually maintain cooking temperatures between 200° F up to 350° F., depending on the type of food being cooked.

This style of solar cooker is also quite safe and usually requires very little supervision and guidance since it is difficult to burn or scorch the food.

A solar panel cooker will usually consist of a pot/pan with a plastic or glass enclosure nestled into a, three up to five sided, reflective panel for better concentration of the suns rays.

Most panel cookers are used for the cooking of foods with higher moisture content, as was previously mentioned.
But you can bake items in a panel cooker pot/pan, even though it is a little bit more challenging and restrictive with some items.
A panel cooker will usually maintain cooking temperatures between 200° F to 250° F, which is more than sufficient for most all foods.

A panel cooker does not require adjustment or alignment as often as say, a parabolic cooker.

A solar panel cooker is also one of the easiest and least expensive to make using common materials found in the home or at a hardware store.

Minimal ability and supervision is required to use a cooker of this style, and even some young children can be taught to safely use one.

Remember also, it is quite difficult to burn or overcook food in this kind of cooker.

A Parabolic Solar Cooker is generally capable of maintaining higher cooking temperatures than a box or panel style cooker and therefore can be used for grilling and even frying.

The single biggest drawback to a parabolic cooker is the need to adjust the angle and direction of the cooker more frequently than other styles of cookers, for maximum cooking efficiency.

Usually the amount of food that can be cooked at one time in a parabolic is less than in a box or panel cooker due to the size of the cooking pot or pan.
But, because the parabolic can achieve higher temperatures, and do so more quickly, foods can be cooked quicker, allowing for more individual meals to be cooked.

Due to higher temperatures and the more frequent need to adjust the cooker, an experienced user/cook is recommended while cooking as opposed to the lesser necessity with box or panel cookers.

The second most common drawback to a parabolic cooker is the higher complexity in design and build.
Many people have built very efficient and practical parabolic cookers from scratch using readily available materials, but most will admit they are more involved than other styles of solar cookers.
These cookers are usually more expensive to make, and the commercially manufactured ones, though of high quality, are also more expensive.

Well built cookers of all classes and styles though, will usually last you for years, and will provide many delicious meals if they are taken care of and treated properly.

Furnishing Your Weekend Retreat - Cottage, Cabin or Chalet - In an Easy and Practical Manner

For many people the "beach" or the "cabin" represents their serenity and tranquility. It's their refuge and abode away from the pressures and pressure cooker of the every day work day world. In term of furnishing their cottage or lakeside chalet some give it thought - whereas many do not. For some furnishing the cottage is give little thought? Its just hand me downs from the city home, or at the best "stuff from garage sales". In many cases this is downright foolish in addition to poor décor and function. In other cases by choosing the décor and furnishings so poorly it leads to a lot more work for the cottage owner, or those seeking a retreat. After all the point is relaxation, not more work and effort. After all the whole purpose is to relax and take it easy.

All in all you have to remember that ruggedness and durability is the key. You are only at the cottage for a short time, if that. Its weekends or at the most several weeks on your vacation. Often it seems that just as soon as you have unpacked, its time to go back home to the city. Items chosen should be rugged and durable. They should not be "dust catchers". They should be easy to clean. If something spills on them - say a couch for example it should be able to be cleanable with water - even cold water and ordinary soap. Ifs not as if you have a dry-cleaner nearby. Funny enough even if you had a dry-cleaner the service may not be available or practical. After all you are probably there on a weekend. When do you drop off the stained couch pillow - before the stain sets and dries? When will you be back to pick up and pay for the cleaning. You may not be back for a month or two and even then it may be on a weekend. On top of that if you have a wilderness cabin - you may not even have running water, hot water and certainly not an eclectic clothes dryer. After all you are roughing it.

You can never go wrong with brown color schemes in a cabin setting. Not only are brown shades rustic and earthy - they also tend to hide dirt and stains. Brown shades are not only natural but also neutral. They will go with almost every other color without clashing. On top of that much of the materials and décor in most cottages are composed of wood and wood products one way or another. Hence brown colors and their shades are the first order of the day.

The question of art often comes up as well. Nature scenes along with wildlife presentations are always welcome. After all you are in, or wish to portray a landscape of the serenity of nature and being one with nature. Along with that your choice of rugs, towels and drapes can all be of the same basic color schemes brown neutral based. Along with that to liven up the atmosphere your accessories - rugs, drapes and towels can incorporate nature and wildlife themes.

After all it is all about your personal serenity, relaxation and peace of mind at your lakeside or wilderness cabin, cottage or chalet.

Cooking - The Basic Equipment

If you're just starting out on your culinary journey, you may find the array of kitchenware available on the market a bit baffling, so here's a quick guide to the must-haves for the first-time cook.

Pots and Pans - A student or single person may get away with one frying pan and a couple of saucepans, but a keen cook or a family would certainly need more. Ideally, I would recommend a small (20 cm) frying pan and a large one (24-28cm), preferably non-stick or very well-seasoned stainless steel. In addition, at least three stainless steel saucepans between 16 and 24 cm plus a large (24cm) and small (18cm) non-stick. The stainless steel ones will be fine for boiling eggs, rice, pasta, potatoes and vegetables and the non-stick ones for sauces or frying off meat and onions for chilli or a casserole. Buy the best quality you can afford, but avoid cast iron, which is just too heavy to be lifted by a single handle, especially if it's full of boiling water and potatoes.

Oven Dishes - Casserole dishes of varying sizes are useful. I like Le Creuset cast iron because you can use it on top of the stove to seal meat and prepare your dish, put it in the oven to cook, then put it on the table to serve, thus saving on the washing up! Because they have two handles, the weight isn't such a problem. A baking dish is also a must if you're going to make lasagne, cannelloni or pies of any kind topped with sliced or mashed potato - earthenware, glass or cast iron is fine. If you want to make pies topped with pastry, then a proper pie dish is almost essential and the same goes for quiche - it really needs the right dish for the job.

Bakeware - If you're going to try your hand at baking cakes, try to choose an all purpose cake tin that you can use over again. The type with a loose bottom or spring-loaded sides make getting the cake out of the tin much easier. For bread, a loaf tin is a must, but you can also use this for meat loaf or paté. A couple of flat baking trays are handy for meringues, biscuits (cookies), sausage rolls and similar items. For individual cakes, buns, tarts, mince pies or Yorkshire puddings a twelve hole tin is a must, preferably non-stick.

Utensils - A selection of wooden spoons is essential. For all other utensils, it's safest to choose acrylic as they won't damage non-stick pans. You will need a slice, a spatula, ladle, slotted spoon and masher.

Knives - Buy the best knives you can possibly afford, but at least get one really good, all-purpose cooks' knife and a decent steel to sharpen it. When selecting knives, ask to hold them and weigh them up in your hand. A good cooks' knife should feel comfortable to use and should be quite heavy. The handle should give you a good grip - you don't want it slipping out of your hand and spearing you in the foot. When you find the right knife, you will know!

Chopping Boards - I prefer acrylic because they can go in the dishwasher for a really good, hot, clean. Some people like to adhere to proper kitchen hygiene rules and keep separate boards for raw chicken, raw meat, cooked meat and vegetables. Others like a nice solid wooden block. It's all down to personal taste.

Miscellaneous Bits. As well as the above, a selection of glass or plastic bowls in different sizes is useful for mixing and plastic boxes for fridge storage are a real boon. Other oddments may include a rolling pin, garlic press and potato peeler, although you can survive without these.

Ways to Use Wet Rubs on Your Meat

Using rubs on the meat that you are going to barbecue (or grill) will greatly enhance the flavor of your food. Simply put, by utilizing this technique you can so greatly increase the flavor and taste of what you are grilling outdoors that your neighbors or friends will think that you are a professional chef. Ha! We won't let the little bird out of the cage. Our secret is safe here. But let's discuss some of these rubs and how they affect what we barbecue.

Using a good rub can really make a difference in how your food comes out. Sure you can use BBQ sauce, but a lot of times BBQ is just used to cover up inferiority, whether it be inferiority in the food, the way it was prepared, or in the cook himself.

Whoa, don't go there. Rubs are great to use, but balance is the key. We do not want to be overpowering in any one area. This would be such as in heat. Well, we like chili powder and heat so let's throw in a whole can of chili powder. Or, I have a sweet tooth so let's put in a pound of brown sugar. It does not work quite like that.

Now since a dry rub and a wet rub is the same. They are the same ingredients, what makes them different is how you apply them. for a wet rub, we will usually moisten the meat that we are going to grill and then add our dry rub to that and rub it all in. This will almost make a paste out of what we did. What we use for the wet part is entirely up to us. In the restaurant industry many times when I would do chicken, I would first start out with some ranch dressing. This would moisten the chicken real well and then my rub would stick to the chicken really well.

For thick cuts of meat we would usually leave the rub, or sometimes called a marinade, on for between 4 to 6 hours. Now if it is really big, say like a beef brisket, then overnight is actually better for the (what I call it) "marriage of flavors."

One of the advantages of using a wet rub is that it will stick to the meat better and stay on better also. Then there is also the advantage that the meat will stay more moist as you grill it. Using wet rubs keeps everything from drying out while cooking. This is really important for us outdoor cooks to know. In using dry rubs or wet rubs on our meat, just remember that balance is the key to everything. How to Make KFC Original Recipe Fried Chicken at Home

Everybody loves the Colonel. KFC is without a doubt one of the most popular fast food places in North America. And the story of how Colonel Sanders went around knocking on doors to try and sell his recipe is legendary.

Obviously, the recipe I'm referring to is the KFC Original Fried Chicken recipe. I imagine the real recipe is under lock and key somewhere very safe, but if you want to make the Colonel's fried chicken at home, here's a pretty good alternative:

This is what you'll need to get started:

· 6 cups of oil for frying (Crisco works best)
· 1 beaten egg
· 2 cups of all purpose flour
· 2 cups of milk
· 4 tbsp. salt
· 2 tsp. black pepper
· 1 teaspoon MSG (not good for you but important in the recipe)
· 2 chickens with skin (cut the into 8 pieces each)

Ideally, to make this chicken taste like the real KFC original recipe, you'll need to use a pressure cooker. If you can't get your hands on one, just a regular home kitchen deep fryer will do, although your temperature might have to be different.

So, pour the oil into the pressure cooker and heat it to around 400 degrees. While this is happening, combine the egg and milk in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, and MSG.
Dip each piece of the chicken into the milk mixture until it is fully coated.
Then roll each chicken piece in the flour mixture until that's coated.
If you're using a pressure cooker, drop a few pieces in, shut the lid and wait for steam. Once steam is shooting out, set a timer for ten minutes and wait.
When your time is up, remove the chicken to drain and start again.

Obviously, the deep fryer method won't give you exactly the same end result, but it should be close. And even if you're close to KFC's Original Fried Chicken, you can't be disappointed with that.

I'm very happy with my pressure cookers, purchased a few months ago. I agonized over whether to purchase the 4 quart or 6 quart model, as I wanted both to be able to cook small amounts (e.g. 2 cups of rice) for small meals and larger amounts for dinner parties. This combination set is perfect, as it allows me to do both, without buying two lids and gaskets, and for considerably less than the cost of buying the two separately. I've made batches of beans and grains in the 4-quart pot, and a variety of soups in the 6 quart pot. It's also been great for cooking winter squash in just a few minutes.
The pressure cooker is easy to use and easy to clean (& I'm new to pressure cooking), and thus far the gasket has sealed with relative ease. The steaming basket and flimsy trivet aren't ideal, but this is a minor complaint.
I had hoped to save on my energy bill by pressure cooking - since food cooks in a fraction of the time, it should only use a fraction of the electricity / gas. I can't say that I've noticed any changes to my electric bill though, because it turns out that energy use for cooking is a relatively small part of overall energy use. According to Natural Resources Canada (from whom information happened to be conveniently available) the average household with an electric stove uses about 775 KWH (kilowatt hours) of electricity for the stove per year. At {BestCustomerReview}.12 per KWH, that would amount to about . Fagor claims that a pressure cooker reduces energy use by 70%. Assuming that you'll actually pressure cook one-fourth of what you cook on a stove-top that would mean that your average yearly savings would be *1/4*0.70, or about . Given that the pressure cooker set costs currently about 0, that means it would take about 7 years to recoup your investment in terms of energy savings (this would change a bit if you take into account that in winter the extra heat from cooking helps to heat the house, and in summer you have to pay twice, once to heat the stove and once to re-cool the kitchen). In conclusion, my pressure cookers have allowed me to eat more healthy foods - whole grains, legumes and winter squashes - without spending all day cooking. For that it's a good investment, but not so much to save energy.

I've been using my Fagor set for about a month now, and I'm loving it. I've never had a pressure cooker before, and I'm finding that I'm much more inclined to include healthy beans and whole grains in my meals with the help of these pressure cookers. I didn't know what size would be the best, and I'm glad I went with the 4-quart and 6-quart. I like the 4-quart for when I just want to cook some grains quickly, or for simple one-ingredient side dishes (acorn squash, potatoes, etc.). The 6-quart is big enough for a stew dinner for about 6 people. I considered a larger pressure cooker, but was concerned that it would be difficult to move on and off the stovetop and that it would be cumbersome to wash. I haven't needed a larger size so I'm glad I didn't opt for the 8-quart.

The pressure lid is easy to use (easy locking system, straight-forward quick release); It's also easy to clean. I use these pots on an electric stove, and haven't had any trouble. I boil the contents on high, and then turn the burner to medium. (No need for two burners, as some cookbooks suggest.) These are very good quality pots, and I also use them for non-pressure cooking.

I prefer not to review this item. It arrived broken twice. However, I was reimbursed for it and am satified. I purchased this item to give as a wedding gift. I already own a Fagor pressure cooker and I love it! I would buy one again.

This is my first pressure cooker and it works just fine. I had read a million reviews before finally purchasing one and was a little nervous about all the details and such but I didn't need to be. This is pretty idiot-proof...just put in the food and water, twist on the top, flip the lock and you're good to go!

Sure, you do need to check the steam output and lower the heat once it really starts going, but I have found that the worst thing that happens if you don't is that you get a little bit of stuff on the top of the pan as the steam rushes out really fast...nothing you can't just clean off.

Also, despite the manual saying to not put in dishwasher, I always do (aside from the gasket) and have had no probs after 4 months.
