This is a fine pressure cooker for the price. Aluminum, not stainless, but I'm not sure I care. I bought this to make a decent reuben, but have only cooked one thing in it so far: bottom round steak; a very cheap steak that normally must be cooked at low heat for over an hour. I cooked one for two hours once in a skillet and it still came out pretty bad. I cooked one of these in the Presto for 15 minutes and it tasted so much better. 6 qt is plenty big enough.

Is my barbecue ready yet? - Cooking Ribs

There are several ways to cook and to determine doneness in your barbecue ribs, and there will be a breakdown between the 2 most popular varieties.

St Louis Spare Ribs can be one of the most difficult meat to cook, and having done exactly. Many of the options that determine doneness, take some time and experience to identify and dominate. Pressure canned apple butter, in pints and half pints, using the Duo 10-quart pressure cooker/canner and very satisfied with its performance. The spring-style pressure mechanism is very quiet compared to the rocker style, and the psychological effect is less like a rocket launch and more like using ordinary cookware. The solid-bottomed 18/10 stainless steel has a beautiful, mirror-like finish and is compatible with induction range tops (Fagor manufactures induction ranges). The pressure slide did hang up one time, and the cooker wouldn't pressurize, but with persistence the slide goes in with a little wiggling. The 10-quart Duo holds four pint or five half-pint jars on the slightly undersized canning rack - a reasonable load for the home canner. The stainless steel ladle and funnel look great and are almost as solid as the cooker. The stainless steel funnel can be submersed in boiling water, and although that's not really necessary with pressure canning, why not kill bacteria when you can? The magnetic lid lifter is a great tool if you are boiling the lids, also not necessary except for water bath canning, but if you're rinsing the funnel in boiling water, why not throw in the lids for good measure? Haven't used the jar wrench because you only tighten lids finger tight when pressure canning. The bubble freer is a useful tool and the jar lifter is a must -- it's great to get all the tools as a set. As a pressure cooker, the Fagor Duo 10-quart can handle anything you can throw into it. Brown a pot roast, throw in two cans of mushroom soup, a packet of onion soup, a cup of water, pressurize and an hour later you have a pot roast with fabulous sauce. Vegetables should go in later or above the roast in the optional steamer insert to avoid turning them into mush. The manual is well written and the DVD features a couple of professional chefs who do a terrific job of showing how easy it is to pressure cook various dishes, including grains and cheesecake. The video hosts are charming and natural, and the DVD gets five stars for taking the fear and mystery out of pressure cooking.

The Sunbeam 5891 is a cheap bread machine that looks nice and comes with a lot of bike for everyone, but keep the most serious bread producers happy. Great Price All American 910 for $169.99

All-American 10-1/2-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner Review



This is the second All-American I have (I have #921 - 21 1/2-Qt also), and I love it!

The smaller size means that it sits on top of the stove at all times, ready to be used. While making dinner on the front burners, I often have this canner working on the back burner. After we finally get up from the table (noone ever seems to want to!), depending on what I canned, but usually something that goes for 90 minutes at 10 psi, it is time to take jars out of the canner. There are some steps to do in between, but our table is in the kitchen, so I get up to check on/turn off burner, etc., while still being able to enjoy the wonderful conversation and shananigans going on at the table. Once the canner is cool, it gets a vinegar & soap bath (I have hard water), dried and put on back burner for next load, jars are on a towel ready to cool and seal overnight, and then be put away in the morning while the coffee is perking.

The smaller size means I don't feel guilty if I don't have two levels of jars to can (one on top of the other). If I only have 4 pints of picadillo to can, then I only can 4 pints, and no guilt about all that space being wasted. :-)

Don't get me wrong, I love my 921 also - I would not know what to do without it, but this 910 has just as much place in my kitchen.

My wife received this Presto 16 quart pressure cooker/canner for Christmas. Two days later she cooked 10 pounds of beef roast (with carrots, potatoes, etc.) in it. As per the instructions, she cooked it for 45 minutes. After the cooker cooled we checked out the roast and found it to be fork tender and beautiful (as were the vegetables). She was really impressed. The pressure gauge stood at 15 psi as the relief valve started to vent and it stayed there for the duration of the cooking period. I only wish it was made of stainless steel, but that would make it too expensive. It's probably larger than we needed for cooking roast, but she also plans to do a lot of canning next fall. I highly recommend this cooker.

I have done extensive research on thermal cookers and purchased the 8.0 liter model. The cooker is well-designed because the handle design of the inner-pot makes it easy and safe to lift the boiling pot from the stove into the true vacuum flask. The inner-pot is of sturdy stainless steel construction and the bottom is reinforced to avoid burning food on the stove during initial preparation. Both the inner-pot and the vacuum flask are very easy to clean. The inside of the vacuum flask is smooth stainless steel with no crevices for food to get stuck so that you can literally wipe it clean should you spill anything into the vacuum flask.

The lid of the inner-pot allows you to conveniently see the inside of the pot during the initial cooking. The knob on the lid of the inner-pot fits within a matching indentation under the lid of the vacuum flask so that the lid does not slide around while the outer-lid of the vacuum flask is fastened. Both the 6.0 liter and 8.0 liter models have locks to secure the insulated outer-lid of the vacuum flast in place while the food is cooking for further security.

The brushed stainless steel exterior is handsome and easy to wipe clean.

Unlike electrical slow cookers (although I still find them very useful in many contexts), the heat surrounds the inner pot during cooking rather than just from the bottom of the electrical slow cooker pot. That makes cooking legumes and starchy ingredients easier because they do not stick to the bottom of the pot. Also, you can brown your meats in the inner-pot of the thermal cooker and then add your additional ingredients to the same pot unlike most electrical slow cookers's inner-pots.

So this product comes with my high recommendations. While this thermal cooker does retain high temperatures for longer than 12 hours, make sure that after your food has finished cooking that the food is not held at an unsafe temperature. Thermal cookers operate the best when the inner-pot is filled to 80% capacity.

I live in Hong Kong and this is advanced version of the crock pot! You can not imagine what this pot does! It make great soups, stews, stock all while you are away. Most of the time I put whatever I want to prepare in the pot, bring it to a rolling boil for 10 minutes (depending on the density of the food), take it off the stove and close it up over night. The next morning, I put it in the fridge. Great soups, pot roast, lamb stew, chili, many comfort foods without so many calories - you keep all the natural flavors "in the pot" while it's cooking. My husband and I gave everyone in our immediate family a pot and after two years, they discovered how wonderful it is....now they can't live without them! The Basics of Healthy VS. Non-healthy food

For anyone trying to eat healthier, it is important that what you eat is the best choice. Sometimes healthy products, but are actually high in sugar syrup or packed in salt. Here are some tips to help make sure what you eat really healthy.

The Perfect Easter Egg and Easter Treat

Spring is finally here.

I for one am happy. Warm weather, time outdoors without a snow shovel or more layers of clothing, meetings and backyard barbecues .. all the things that make life great. 16 oz.can Salmon
teaspoon. Horseradish
one tablespoon lemon juice
8 oz cream cheese - soft
a small onion - minced

Mix all ingredients and shape into small balls. OnSnack crackers, and garnish with parsley and lemon pepper flakes, if desired. It's actually very good with the lemon pepper.
